Can 3D SVG Project Files be Created Using AI?
I'm fascinated by the advances in AI in just the past year. I don't know if the technology has evolved that far. But I decided to see just what could be done using Midjourney.com.
Midjourney is an AI tool I recently learned how to use. It can produce amazing images using a simple text prompt you provide.
The first prompt I typed in was: "Create an image of a 3D Scalable Vector Graphics". I refreshed it once, and the second set of results produced several I liked. One of which is the featured image for this post.
A couple more are below:
All of these images are just that, images. They look beautiful, but they're downloadable only in PNG file format. Getting them converted into vectors and then documented into a set of plans you can cut AND assemble is a whole different set of challenges.
I decided to refine my Midjourney prompt and see if it could simplify the output. I tried this one instead: "Create a photo of a 3D SVG project that is not too complex for a DIY project and could be created using a smart cutting machine."
This prompt resulted in different images but must still be simplified to achieve the desired results. Hopefully, the following year of AI advances will figure out some of the challenges of converting raster images to vectors, along with the many other details of a project of this complexity.
I have done one similar to the fourth image below, bottom-right. This was using a Glowforge Laser. I just need to figure out how to convert the image into multiple vector files without adding another subscription service. Good luck!
