Melody's Success Story

This online business success story is about Melody, who has been a Wealthy Affiliate member since 2014. The "Get Started Course" training teaches that "You Must Not Leave Money On The Table." Melody put this lesson into practice using a new way to monetize website traffic without any extra work.

Melody has a website with reviews she writes of different MLM products. Many times she reads in the comments from readers where they talked about related products to what the MLM Network offered.

Seeing this as an opportunity she was missing out on; Melody considered the best way to monetize on this. She could have written additional reviews on these products. Instead, she placed Amazon affiliate ads for these products on her review page.

Over the next two months, her commissions on that particular review page increased to $100 per month. Before this change, she was leaving $100 a month on the table. She even saw a conversion rate of 9%. Not a bad increase, for adding another monetization method to her website.

Melody anticipates doing this same change to her additional MLM reviews. This change is truly the definition of passive income. She does not need to write any other product reviews but converted the existing traffic.

Melody's Success Story Update

Melody later writes in an update that she sold this very same site for over $38,000. Once the new owner switched over her affiliate links on the site, she stopped getting new sales. However, her previous recurring purchases continued to earn her money.

Passive Income

These recurring sales are another example of passive income - Set something up, and it pays you over and over.

These sales only happened because she was promoting the WA affiliate program. Wealthy Affiliate has a recurring revenue stream. Recurring means that as long as the new member you referred keeps paying the membership, then you keep earning an income.

Seeing this success leads Melody to ask three questions about monetizing your website:

  • Do you promote one-time sales affiliate programs or those with recurring payments?
  • If your site gets hacked or goes down for any reason, would you keep earning an income?
  • Does it require more effort from you to promote a recurring program than what it takes for the promotion of a once-off program?

Recurring affiliate programs are not an option in every niche. However, if one is available, the benefits are worth the time.
