You can find a great variety of quality free SVG files at Hello SVG. They have a large selection, and all SVG file downloads are free.

Many Different Categories of Free SVG Files

HelloSVG's popular categories have menu options on their home page. These include major holidays and seasons such as Fall, Thanksgiving, Halloween, and Christmas.

Their significant categories include Christian, Motherhood, Monograms, Sunflowers, and Others. The Others category breaks down into almost forty different sub-categories. So you should be able to find some vector design that meets your needs.

Hello SVG also has a section of its website devoted to digital paper. This section would be more crafts-oriented, not something you can use with a CNC wood machine.

The SVG cut file downloads come in a single zip file with the following formats: SVG, DXF, EPS, and PNG. Unfortunately, I did not find the PNG formatted file in either of my download files.

Downloading the files is free; however, you must go through the site checkout process. This process involves adding your zero-cost design to your shopping cart and checking it out when finished. It does not ask for a credit card but a name and address.

Once you finish the checkout process, your download links will be available.

Camping Days Are The Best Days Free SVG File

The first vector design I chose to review was called Camping Days Are The Best Days

I created a new file in the Vectric Aspire CNC software with a simulated Cherry hardwood setting. The material size was twelve inches wide by twelve inches high and 1 inch thick.

I imported the vector design and centered it on the material. I did not resize the design but left it at its default size.

The first vector quality check I look at is the node editor. The black-colored straight nodes had heavy concentrations, especially in the word vectors. The fire vectors were mostly the blue-colored smooth node points.

The second vector check was with using the Vector Validator. This software feature revealed twenty-five zero-length spans and one intersection.

You can quickly fix zero-length spans with the Vectric software simply by clicking a button. Once the software repaired these issues, the vectors were nearly perfect.

The last quality check is to find any "open" or "duplicate" vectors. Fortunately, the software did not find either of these problems, so it's time to create a toolpath.

The simplest toolpath to create is a V-Carve using the 60-degree v-bit. Again, I did not use the clearance tool option or enable the Flat Depth option.

The software created the toolpath with a warning message. There was still one vector intersection that still needed repair.

I ran the new toolpath using the CNC software's simulator. The result turned out excellent. This vector design is a nice little camping sign you can make using the free SVG file from Hello SVG.

I downloaded a second vector titled Gone Fishing.

I created another file in the Vectric Aspire CNC software with the same simulated Cherry hardwood setting. The material size was again twelve inches wide by twelve inches high and 1 inch thick.

I imported the vector design and centered it on the material. Unfortunately, the vectors were more prominent this time than my material, so I needed to resize them to fit.

The first vector quality check was to look at the vectors using the node editor. This design looked a lot cleaner than the previous one. There were a more considerable amount of smooth blue-colored nodes.

These will allow faster carving times on a wood CNC machine with less risk of jagged edges.

I used the Vector Validator for the second design quality check. It found 32 zero-length spans and twelve intersections.

I clicked the magic Fix zero-length spans button, and it removed all the issues except for the twelve vector intersections. Unfortunately, I could only find three of them, but possibly the way they crossed each other caused twelve.

I lastly checked for any "open" or "duplicate" vectors in the design. The Vectric CNC software did not find either of these problems.

Once again, it's time to create another V-Carve toolpath. Again, I used the 60-degree v-bit without a clearance tool. I also left unchecked the flat-depth option.

The software calculated the toolpath after displaying an error message about the twelve remaining vector intersections.

I once again ran the new toolpath using the CNC software's simulator. This result also turned out excellent. This vector design is another attractive fishing sign you can make using the free SVG file from Hello SVG.

Reminder

You must verify all tool path settings, especially the bit settings, to ensure they are compatible with your CNC machine. Every CNC machine operates differently!
